Starting a blog is like pulling the cord to a single lightbulb in a dark and infinite room.  Below the bulb is a metal folding chair, empty and waiting.  The silence and loneliness stretches beyond the borders of the ring of yellow light from the bulb.  It’s quiet in this particular corner of cyberspace, but I can hear the rumble and hum of voices far away, a conversation of which I am not part. I am here alone, and I have nothing special to offer.  I have to make something out of nothing.  Just me and a metal chair.  Just me and a couple of words.  Just me . . . and now you.

  1. Keep poring yourself into your moving and relevant personal essays and in time chairs will be insufficient, as bleachers take their place!
